I was out this weekend walking and got about two hours in just leisurely walking at Olvera Street in downtown Los Angeles for the Cinco de Mayo weekend. It's good to sometimes just get in a leisurely walk. Before I knew it, I had browsed through most of the little shops and had walked over two hours. Some of the shops had stairs leading down or up to the door. We had to park at Union Station and there were stairs leading down to the main level. All-in-all it was a good walking day. I spent time with my family and got in some excercise.

Thanks for comenting above, I feel myself losing water weight when I go on walks and I try to keep up my water intake so I don't retain water due to salt and other chemicals found in food.

What are the best types of socks to wear for a long walk? For the last Avon walk I wore Thurlo socks, but after a few miles there seemed to be too much friction between the sock and my shoe. I started blistering. I heard the Wright Socks are the socks to wear. I have not tried them, but I would like to hear if anyone had an experience with them, either good or bad. Please comment?

First of all, your body tends to want to retain weight; and the first weight that drops off is usually water weight, or fluid weight. So that 10 pounds that you drop so effortlessly and gain back just as quickly is probably just extra fluid....
