Finding someone on the internet is exciting and fun. There are virtually unlimited blogs, and social sights where singles can congregate via the internet. I don’t want to date myself, but I actually found someone very special through the old video dating service that came before the internet. It was a little over 10 years ago, so it’s interesting to see how things have evolved in the past several years. I joined up with a dating service called Laura Mitchell’s Dating Service that served the Southern California area. I met my husband there, I actually picked him out. We always told everyone that we met through a mutual friend named “Laura”. Back then, nobody would have ever thought that a normal person looking for a relationship could find somebody by reading a bio and watching a twenty minute video. There must of been something wrong with that person.

Well, 14 years and four children later, my husband and I are still happily married. We know of several people now who met on the internet and in fact, we are attending a wedding in a few months for our friends who met on a Lakers basketball forum a few years ago.

The main reason I went to a service where singles can meet is because I was a picky person and I wanted to know more about a person that just a 10 minute conversation where we possibly exchange phone numbers in a loud night club not knowing if he was a regular and on the verge of becoming an alcoholic or if he had a wife and kids at home and was just out with the boys flirting. I was in my late twenties and since I was already out of college, and in a career, I really didn’t wanted to go to clubs or hang out at friend’s parties. I drank in my college days, but I was settling down and I didn’t want to find someone with even a slight chance of having a drinking problem. I had heard about meeting singles in a non-competitive, (it was a meat market out there!) manner. There was no pressure, I could filp through a book (now it’s a profile on the internet) and see their features, their ambitions, their position on what they wanted in a relationship and I felt good when I had narrowed it down to about three or four potential guys.

In this day and age, look at all your options. Now, if you’re into reading the classics, you can find someone with your same interests on that social site. I am still happily married to that red head that I picked many years ago, but I want to recommend a sight that is dedicated to physically active individuals just like me and you. If you’re into hiking, you can find someone who enjoys hiking, and so on. I enjoy walking and I would have loved to have had the ability to click on a website and narrow my search to the specifics that are available now.
